It's more a matter of disolved oxygen, and the warmer the water the less oxygen it holds. Rainbow Trout need a lot of oxygen, they will not make it long in the upper 70's without a lot of aeration. Bass, Bluegill, and Channel Cats often thrive in water that stays in the mid 80's for weeks at a time, such as the Mississippi River. I've seen that river reach over 90° F without major fish kills.

It partly depends on how much the water is moving and the loss of dissolved oxygen - about 85F
