I wouldnt. You could go into labor at anytime and the stress of havign to travel and the shower woudl be hard to deal with, and could bring on labor itself.
I woudl planearlier than later. I hd my shower when I was 6 months pregnant since we had to travel. Better to do it WAY before you are read to have the baby, rather than too close to th date. Ya know?
good luck and congrats!

Hmmm....
One thing that i understand all too well is how hard it is being apart from family and friends during pregnancy. I live right at 800 miles from where i was raised (about 11 hours) Last week i was able to talk my significant other into packing up to go home for 4 days. My thinking was that i was only 6 months, and it would be a breeze. Boy was I wrong, please do not try this trip at almost 8 months by car. Even with pulling over half way, I believe it would be too hard on your body-Believe me when I say EVERYTHING ached!! Although i enjoyed the shower and spending time at home, it wasnt worth the agony of the trip. Flying may be different, I never flown, definitly call your doctor and check with him before you make a move

I'm thinking it may be cutting it a lil close, considering 36 weeks is usually the cut off point for most doctors. Not only will it be a 10 1/2 hour trip there but another 10 1/2 hour trip back home.
why not wait till the baby is here and then they can throw you a baby shower/welcoming party instead??
I would just be sooo uncomfortable and you would have to make a lot of stops because you need to stretch out, which would probably turn the trip into more like a 12 hour trip.

Hey, I am due Christmas Day, also! I personally will not be traveling for Thanksgiving or Christmas. My daughter came 3 weeks early and I was only in labor for 11 hours, so I expect this one to come early also and for my labor to be short! I wouldn't want to deliver my baby out of town... but I am having a 100% completely natural birth, absolutely no medicine of any kind, and I may have a hard time getting another hospital to help me follow my birth plan!
My final advice would be to not do it. If your husband can't make it, and you really want to see your family, then maybe go without him! After the baby is born, you all can go!

you can travel by plane anywhere up until u are 28 weeks. It says so in the pregnancy book i'm reading. And if ure traveling by car...it'd be a bit pain in the azz. Sitting too much will cause ur butt to ache and have discomfort and probably end up having hemmeroids. Thats what happened to me when I only went on a 8 hr road trip at 25 weeks.

I was due January 15 and my doctor wouldn't let me go 3 hours away (by car) to a family gather on Christmas day. Every doctor is different though!

if u do decide to go, try getting a flight that isnt direct, that way u have some time to move around and rest before flying again
