Dell won't put in a firewire port unless u ask for it, I know as I have a Dell Dimension 8400. When I upgraded my sound card it came with a firewire port now I have one. But, U.S.B 2 interface is faster than firewire by 480kbs compared to 400kbs. If u can use a u.s.b. port for ur device use the u.s.b. port.

Because It Never Had One!!!

Just Kidding

Maybe You Didnt Have One Built in because firewire is like a floppy to a CD meaning it was exchanged with the wireless

The unit may not have a firewire port. You can get pci firewire cards and this would give you that ability.

Maybe because your pc didn't come with a Firewire connection?
If so, you'll have to buy an add-on card for Firewire if you need it.
Does your device not support USB?

not all computers come with a firewire port, you might have one on the front or the back, if not i would suggest a pci firewire card.

did u check the rear of the computer?

if you still can't find one, you can always buy an add-on firewire PCI card at your local electronics store (or online store) and install it yourself.
