Even as a Giants fan I think he used steroids. However so did all of the other beloved players of his era. Realistically when you see guys like Marvin Benard and some of the other players that weren't considered sluggers getting caught up in the scandal you have to admit there was an epidemic in baseball. Selig acts as if its a tragedy and has a whole attitude of shock and being above reproach. However remember it all happened on his watch. Fact is Barry will break the record and hold it for 7-10 years. Then someone will move him down the list. Unfortunately Hank Aaron will also move down the list.

Steroids are cheating...there is no question they allowed Bonds to work out harder and gain an edge at an age where most players are declining. The biggest sin he has committed though is being an unapproachable prick. That has cost him more in the court of public opinion that anything. Other steroid suspects/users have been dealt with much more gracefully due to their more amiable personalities.

Oh and FYI...steroids have been against the rules of MLB since the early 90's. (under Fay Vincent)....however the union and ownership didn't come to an agreement for testing until more recently. So they were against the rules, but the rules were difficult/impossible to enforce. (See attached link)...and those same steroids were made a controlled substance (meaning they were not legal without a valid Rx) by congress in a series of Bills and Acts from 1988 to the early 1990s. (see 2nd link)

It's not simple because cheating is breaking MLB rules and he has never been caught doing so. So calling him a cheater when I have no proof is not right. There were no rules imposed by MLB when he was supposedly taking these substances.

Has he used steroids, I don't know because I have no proof. He took HGH (which is not steroids), because he admitted that. He says unknowingly but he still did it. That's the only thing I am positive about.

So based on what I know and the knowledge I have on what steroids do to the body over long-term use, I will be comfortable in saying NO, he did not take STEROIDS!

And to the guy below me: ARE YOU SERIOUS? The guy is now 43, of course he is falling apart. He has been doing that for a few years now. People want to overlook that because they hate him but what 43 year old body isn't going to break?

He's a ballplayer that used HGH and steroids, but is not a cheater. Only fact is that players that used at the same time were not tested due to HGH and steroids not banned or illegal.

Steroids are bad in the sense that you're committing slow suicide and will definitely kill you, but there should be TV commercials showing the negative effects to avoid people from using and abusing that stuff. Surprising that there are no public service announcements other than MLB's.....

I believe that Barry Bonds used steroids...however he is NOT a cheater. He used steroids at a time when they were completely legal, thus he wasn't cheating. If it is found that in the years since they have banned he has used them, then he is a cheater. However, until he fails a steroid test...he is still clean in my book.

Isn't the Judicial System of the United States "innocent until proven inoccent"? If so, then why does everybody despise Bonds...he is yet to fail a test.....

yess one of the great questions asked every 3 hours on YA

ill throw down my opinion because i like hearing myself talk

in 1999 Barry testified he took a "clear cream" which he did not know contained steroids. he was unaware of what was in it, so he says. you can believe it or not, your choice. the KICKER here is that there was no Drug Testing policy in 1999. so whatever Bonds took (legal or illegal) was fine with MLB

in 2001 Bud finally implemented a testing policy which tests for now 53 banned substances in the league. the big problem arises when Bonds has yet to test positive since steroids were banned

although the signs are there in his exponential increase in mass and bone size since 1999, he remains innocent until proven guilty

i still think that when he tests negative at his drug tests he gets that same smirk Tom Brady had when he was saved by the "Tuck Rule" in that AFC Title game against Oakland. that grin that says "maybe i did do it, maybe i didnt, but only i know EXACTLY what i did"

believe what you want. ill have more fun the day he actually tests positive than just bashing him, hoping he tests positive

Has he ever tested positive? No.
Ergo............He's not a cheater.
Get over it and give the man his due.
Amphetamines were legal too, my point is, there is always something. Let it go.

The evidence is pretty overwhelming that he did. But then so did Giambi, Palmero, Sosa, McGwire and who knows how many others.
