Salted earth allows nothing to grow, so I'd say that would be accurate. Don't get it too close to your grass though either.

Don't even think about it!!! Salt is not only toxic to the plants but worse, it destroys soil structure....the natural "crumbles" necessary for proper air and water penetration, it also ruins the ionic nature of the soil.

In 241 BC, the Carthaginians and Romans signed a treaty in which Carthage had to give up Sicily, which it didn't. As a result the Romans undertook a genocide of the people of Carthage, demolished the harbor and the city and all the surrounding countryside was sown with salt to render it uninhabitable.

Rock salt will deter and kill weeds. It will also kill every other plant whose soil it washes into, even in small amounts. Rock salt may also damage concrete surfaces. How to deter your weeds depends on where they are. Flowerbeds, driveway cracks, patio, lawn?

Bad idea it will ruin the chemical balance of the soil.
