It's perfectly ok to abandon a bad book, especially if it's a bestseller. But if you are abandoning, say, Albert Camus, you are missing out terribly, as he ends his books superbly.

Ask yourself, am I leaving a literate book because it's difficult, or am I leaving a crappy book because a crappy writer wrote crap and is wasting my time?

I've been there way too many times, reading a book and realize that the author is using the same words over and over and over and not getting anywhere near a point. I hate investing a bunch of my valuable time in reading a boring book or watching a boring movie. I say don't waste any more of your time if you don't feel it's getting anywhere. There are so many more important and interesting things you could do with your time than saying, "Hey, I just finished reading the most boring book in the world!"

That is up to you. I am a prolific reader. It is my pass time and passion. But I have had several books over the years I just could not get into. Some of them were quite popular. I have only been able to finish one Michnor book and that was "Space". Recently I started reading The Sword in the STone and quit half way through with no intention of picking it up again.

So if you don't like the book put it aside and go to something more enjoyable.

On the one hand I'd say that since you're better than halfway there (118 1/2 was the halfway mark) I'd say to finish it. However , if you're starting to find the book so boring that it's a chore to finish it, you might want to save your place and put the book down for a while. Read something else and come back to it later.

if you read 190 pages of the book read 1 more chapter and if you are definitely convinced you are bored of the book then you should stop reading the book.

The ending is always the easiest to read. Unless it's trash, keep reading.

Why not? You don't have that many pages left, and it might get better. At least if you finish it, you won't have to wonder how it ends.
It's your choice, though. =)

If it's really boring and you don't care, then there's no reason why you should. If you're not enjoying it, why spend your time on it?
