I have a computer and a laptop. They both say the same things except the laptop works. Everything is connected but it still says "Network cable is unplugged"! Could there be another reason to why it's not working??

I assume that you are referring to the non laptop computer
somewhere along the line you are not getting an internet connection via the router
First ( can do it several ways)
Check to see if the network adapter is working correctly.
I assume you have are using a cable - you do not say.
Go my computer > right click > properties > device manager > alphabetically look for network card
if it has a plus beside it select that

right click on the network card
look that there is no question or exclamation mark
Look to see that it says " the device is working properly"
If if does and no question mark - then the network adapter is fine it is elsewhere
if it does not or has an exclamation or question mark then come back and ask how to install device drivers

- if none of the above or so then it may be your cables
take them out and insert them again - you should hear a click
the plastic tabs sometimes break and they slide out

in the network card ( and make sure it is the network card not a modem)
and in the router
reboot
try again

if these do not work there are additional steps
come back here and explain what you done and what is next
take care

I am going to assume they are both wired devices.

If the laptop works and the desktop does not, take the cable from laptop and put it in desktop as the cable may be defective or a cross cable (and you need a straight) for example.

If this does not work, make sure the lan connector is enabled. Right click on My network places, select properties, right click on the wired connection and see if it is in Disabled mode, if so enable it as shown. After enabling, left click on propterties, highlight Internet Connection (TCP/IP) and hit properties button. It should show "obtain IP address automatically" selected, if not select it and select"obtain DNS automatically". Close out of this and see if all works.

If this does not work, did the network connection work before?

Write again after you have checked these - telling us what you did if things do not go live.

make sure that your network drivers for the network are updated or even try reinstalling the drivers. Check to see in your device manager (on your desktop and laptop) that there is no yellow triangle with an exclamation point next to the network card

Try logging on your router and seeing if it's detecting that your computer is connected. It's possible you're using an UPLINK cable instead of a normal one. Try swithcing the cables to see if the problems is in the cable itself.

When you say they both say the same thing, does that mean they both say "Obtain IP address automatically", or do they both have identical IP addresses?

If you go to each computer and click Start > Run > cmd and then type ipconfig /all, what does each computer say?
