If I could I'd also add the depression, world war I, vietnam and columbine (because it is a tragic thing when young people can murder their own classmates and not even care).


Oh and as for the guy that went off about only limiting it to US history get off it. Yes tragic things have happened all over the world but it was just a question.

2. The stealing of the land of the Native Americans

4. The treatment of African Americans after emancipation-especially the segregation in the South, the lynchings, etc.
5. The Civil War- for the number of dead-more than any other war

That's a little patronizing, that demand. What about the Holocaust? The genocide in Rwanda? Kosovo? Cambodia? South Africa? Angola? There is history outside the US, you know. And it had it's tragic moments.
