If your views are indeed superior, why is it that the only thing we hear from conservative commentators are lies and personal degradation of the Democratic candidates?
Its one thing when Ann Coulter spits out her vitriol, everyone knows she's a clown who is only in it for the money, and liberals have Michael Moore to account for... but if Obama is only a lightweight with no experience, why the need to try and lie about his religious background and make fun of his name?
If Hillary is a liberal intrusive government 60s radical, why make fun of the way she talks or lie about her associates from Little Rock?
If John Edwards is a lightweight trial lawyer who's playing the populism card, why attack him for a hair cut or his house?
For people who claim to be all about the ideas, why do conservatives only seem to drag out personal attacks, if facts and policy are on their side?

ok, see if you can't prove my point, Cons. I specifically noted that I don't include big, mean and ugly Annie because she's so over the top nobody but an imbecile would take her seriously.
I'm in a horrible position, because I pretty well have to choose to hold my nose and vote for one of the clowns in the Dem field since the Repubs are so busy trying to out-fascist each other...
quick question for you cons... anybody know how many wives Mitts Great-Grandpappy had? Pretty sure its more than Rudy...
Oh yeah and where the heck is Osama bin Laden? You guys have made the world so much safer.

ok, sylence, nice post, and it is true that there are too few statesmen in politics today... give me a mike mansfield or a howard baker for sure.
as to the person who said bill o'reilly was an example of an unbiased commentator, back away from the kool aid, the man is a bully and a fool...
as to those who keep parrotting the line about obama being a muslim, here's the thing guys, he professes to be a Christian, as such, if indeed he had at some point been a muslim, he would be an apostate now and subject to death in much of the Muslim world.
Hillary, like her husband, is clearly the victim of an ambition at any cost mentality, and that's certainly fair game, why not discuss that instead of talking about her hairstyle or sartorial choices?

If a Conservative resorts to the same tactics used consistently by the Left, then they are simply showing themselves to be petty politicians and are not practicing the morals we hold to. I say leave the name calling and the deceptive tactics to those who practice them most, and to stick with honesty and integrity. Name calling is childish and should also stay out of government. Truth defeats a lie in any case.
Politicians in general however, are what's wrong with this government. We need Statesmen, who are willing to do what's right, without regard to their own careers..they need to put country above their own job. I can't stand hearing that a Senator or Representative will vote a specific way because it is an election year...I don't want a Congressman or President who is not willing to do what is right simply because they will be voted out of office for it. That's a reasonable risk they must take, and Politicians are supposed to take those risks on our behalf..not pander to special interest groups or a political party agenda just to keep their seat.
...Libs/Dems/Reps/Cons are all guilty of the same tactics, and the same failings.
It's specifically why they "won't" answer tough/direct questions because they are more concerned with their own career longevity, gaining power or holding on to it.
The Left has simply more experience being seedy and deceptive, using media campaigns of corruption and scandal against their adversaries at every turn...look to the media today, how many accusations are made daily against the Administration...and they will do anything to gain power, as they demonstrate now by working to bring about our defeat in Iraq and Afghanistan, just so they can point their finger and say...look look...the war failed..the country need us now, to fix what we caused to happen. It's a complete politicization of the war, and a complete betrayal of our troops and the Iraqi's and Afghans who are our allies in this fight. And if any political group bases their values and actions on the fear of the public opinion, it's the Left. They allow themselves to be lead by opinion polls that are only a minute speck of the entire population.
Remember, no Presidential candidate has the luxury of privacy. Every aspect of their lives are under scrutiny, from birth to the day they decide to run, and they know this. They will be brought into the light...and every dirty little secret they have will eventually be exposed. Their voting records are available as are their achievements.
Hillary is the most contradictory and pandering candidate I personally have ever seen...she makes herself for every group, exactly what they want to her to be...and she will do anything to be elected, including denigrating the present Administration when she (by her voting records) and her Liberal counterparts are no less culpable for the actions this country has taken since 9/11. She is a consummate politician.
Edwards uses his personal tragedies as political talking points, yet expects no one to debate him on it, or to question his motivation...He is running to be the President of the United States...and yes, even his use of money is a reflection of his character...if he will spend his money so frivolously, on a haircut with a price that could feed a family of 3 for a month, then yes it is valid to bring it to the attention of the people, especially since he wants to be portrayed as the candidate spokesman for the poor, and since his level of personal responsibility and decadence is an indication of how he would run the country.
As for Obama, his campaign is based on his statements concerning his race...his religion...and his personal "freshness"/inexperience...all are open to discussion, and should be studied and focused on in depth because it all adds up to his character.
I personally, will vote for a candidate that demonstrates the values they claim to believe...if they do not, by their actions, then I will not vote for them.
I can only say that I pray for strong, moral and honest statesmen who act with integrity. It will be obvious when we have them, because they will be such a distinct difference from what we have seen so often in the past decade.

We get tired constantly pointing out line by line how much these people are ruining our country. Its a lot to go through!
So when we get frustrated we break the tension by pointing about the lighter side of the many faults these candidates have. It's all just JOKES!! Lighten up! For all your intelligence and your superiority over us, shouldn't your sense of humor be sharper as well?
I laugh at any joke that's funny, whether I agree with the principles behind it or not. I keep an open mind to things... which is what you, as a liberal, should be doing. I'm supposed to be a close-minded conservative... why am I more accepting of the faults ALL (both parties) the candidates have than you are? Riddle me that...

There is a difference in Ann Coulter and Michael Moore. They can say whatever they want because of the whole 1st Amendment thing that you Liberals hate so much. But the main difference between the two is that Moore is a PROVEN liar. Coulter does not lie. The main difference in Conservatives and Liberals is that Conservatives (not necessarily Republicans now-a-days) work towards a future more in line with our Founding Fathers, where Liberals want a land of immoral lawlessness and eventual total government control. Conservatives think America is great because of the individual contributions. Liberals think America is great because of its government.

Personal attacks are trademark of the Liberals, not Conservatives. Conservatives point out a candidates faulty logic, hypocrisy, and inability to ever come up with a cohesive plan of action. They may playfully joke about someone for obvious reasons, but they're not in it like some blood sport. In contrast, Liberals spew venom with every breath.
When Conservatives go on college campuses to speak, the Liberals cause havoc, keeping the person from even speaking. Have you ever heard of Conservatives behaving in such a deplorable manner? No, of course not. We don't have demonstrations that block traffic, burn flags, or spit on policemen.
Watch Bill O'Reilly on FOX News. He gets boiling mad sometimes, but he is generally very respectful. He has to be; otherwise he won't get guests to come on the show. He also gives people "The Final Word", about 30 seconds to wrap up what they want to say without interruption. I've never heard of any Liberal host offering this courtesy. In fact, Liberals generally pre-record their programs, and then edit out what they don't like.
60-Minutes does this, of course. The interviewer will actually re-record his QUESTION to make himself sound more intelligent! So, the answer you hear is often not exactly the question that was posed to the hapless guest.
Why make fun of how Hillary speaks? Have you ever heard her address a black audience? It's embarrassing. She affects this good 'ol girl southern accent because her handlers presumably have told her this makes her more palatable. Name any Republican who stoops to these tactics?
Why mock John Edwards for a $400 haircut? ($1,200 once due to having to purchase an airplane ticket for the stylist). Because it reveals the true character and his lack of substance. He's like some one-line actor who needs to photographed from a certain angle in all his publicity shots. He's shallow and hopes his looks will propell him into the White House.
Most of this is just light hearted humor. In contrast, listen to the horrible things people say on this venue about our President. They call him a chimp. They imply he has a low IQ (Bush and Kerry got the same GPA in college). What the liberals say is vicious. By comparison, Conservative comments are quite tame.

You have a point, friend, but you forget all the questions about Rudie Giuliani, Bush etc, that come from the other side. If it is not right for one, it shouldn't be right for the other. We need to focus on unifying as a country not driving the wedge deeper.
EDIT: "Light-Hearted Humor" still has a basis in nasty and divisive. Debate the issues and lay off the personal attacks and partisan stuff.

Obama DOES have a Muslim madrassa background . He may or may not still subscribe to that , but denying that he does only puts fuel to the fire .
Hillary is no one . a woman without a country . A lost soul . Hellbent on power and nothing else . If she really believed in ANYTHING , then she wouldn't change her position so often .
John Edwards - Ha haha haha . . . gimme a break . No chance elitist .
And to your last point ... . . . Spend one day on these boards and then ask yourself if Republicans are doing that because they really want to . . . or provoked and in response to the plethora of nonsense questions like 'Should Cheney make his daughter join the Army" or " Is Bush doing cocaine again " or " Is Bush back on the bottle" or " Is Laura Bush a murderer" or " Is the chimp gonna take away all of our rights" or " Why is Cheney a hypocrite , his daughter is gay " or " How come Bush doesn't make his daughters go to Iraq" or. . . . . . . . . . . .I could go on FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER AND EVER .
Provoking someone enough times will enlist a response eventually .
In fact , criminal law itself identifies this behavior as 'Provoking speeches and gestures' . Which in the right circumstances will get a defendent a 'not-guilty' verdict .

The people who do this are emotional debaters they get angry or feel inferior so they have to resort to name calling to get their point across like children. People fear what they cant understand and hate what they cant conquer so they try to kill peoples character ask John Kerry.
It is sad that we can no longer talk to each other I have conservative friends and they dont act like this they express their ideas with respect to others. No conservative to look up to Ann Coulter, personally m favorite republican is Pat B. from the debates I've seen him in on tv he has always stuck to the topic and even if I disagree with his view I always respect him. He is a true Conservative role model.

Give an example of a consevative "COMMENTATOR" speaking lies.
Clear it up for us and go on the record about it...ready?
What is Obama's religion?
Did Hillary work for Wal-mart Y or N?
Was Hillary a Goldwater Girl Y or N?
Is it hypocritical that Edwards' campaign is based on helping the poor, how much does he spend on a hair-cut, and is his stylist in the lower economic class?
Fact is we are taking care of the killers in Iraq.
Fact our healthcare system is better than any other country.

Facts would be nice, try using some. Using the extreme example of Ann Coulter is laughable. As far as Edwards hair etc, conservatives actually have a sense of humor so we can poke fun at others and ourselves and still discuss the relevant issues- I know you cannot do both- liberals and humor do not coexist. You will hear fact after fact about democrats and even republicans if you listen or watch conservative talk radio or news analysis programs. On left wing radio you typically hear attacks with no substance or in the case of NPR, news analysis that portends to be hard news- if it doesnt put you to sleep first.

Tell me your not serious....
Ann Coulter is not a govt official and I know there is free speech because Michael Moore makes false accusations in his movies!!
By chance did you hear Harry Reid on CNN last night...(He is a democrat) on national tv say this is the worst president and administration in US history!!! Ah, excuse me is that no slander?
Hillary changes political stances depending on what group of people she talks too. When she travels south or goes to black churches...Have you heard that southern drawwwl?
John Edwards was a personal injury trial attorney, specializing in representing people who were alleged victims of corporate negligence and/or medical malpractice.(another words he got 40% of his clients award.)..He also uses his wife for a sympathy issue and brings her out of the closet to add to his campaign war chest
Obama Hussein- Sorry but I dont like his religious background. I dont like his fathers or step fathers religious background...and in America I still have the opportunity to say it out loud!!!
