How about the law that declared War on Poverty? I see no exit strategy in sight. I wish the Democrats would come up with an exit strategy for the War on Poverty, instead of undermining the morale of the troops by trying to ruin the War on Terror, which they are totally unauthorized and unqualified to do.

All that the War on Poverty has done is increase the amount of illegitimate children, crime, and increase the amount of poor people who don't work. So those people wait in line for everything that they have, and have no dignity. Our government has literally killed the idea of personal responsibility in an entire class of people. What did people do a hundred years ago before there was any public assistance? They worked, or they didn't eat! So now, the government takes the most money from the people who work the hardest and earn the most, and give it to the laziest and most foolish in our society. It's bass ackwards.

While we're at it...Another federal law that sounds good on paper would be the federal tax code.

There are so many that sound good if you don't read them. The one I find patronizing to corporations under the guise of helping the little guy is the farm subsidy bill. Movie stars and corporations don't need help with farming but the small farmer does. Why are we paying the super rich not to farm?

No Child Left Behind
The PATRIOT Act
Affirmative Action
Medicaid
Medicare
Welfare

All are made from warm and fuzzy words, but have screwed up the country. As a woman, I don't need "Affirmative Action" to help me get a job. How patronizing!

Most of 'em don't even sound (or look) good on paper, if you actually read them. They sound good in political sound bites, only.

Affermitive action it sounds great until you realize it is reverse rascism, and discrimination. As long as it exists this nation will never be able to truly move past issues of race.

Strict gun control. The criminals will get their hands on guns anyway, and law abiding citizens are left defenseless.
