I just bought a pair of leather boots, and I've worn them a couple times now, and my socks have all these brown marks all over them. How long will this happen? Why does it do this? Is there any way to stop this?

Probably your feet are sweating, and the moisture is causing the dye in the leather to fade on to your socks. It's going to keep happening until your boots are good and broke in.

Try some Oxy Clean on your white socks. You might also want to try a pre-treatment like those Tide or Clorox pens of detergent for spots.

Once your boots get totally soaked--like in the rain--the dye will dry up. Until then, it's going to be leopard spotted socks for you.

Good luck.

The sweat from your feet is causing dye to rub off of the leather. I wouldn't count on it going away for awhile. Wear dark socks so it doesn't show.

it's the stuff they treated the leather with for color. it should begin to stop in a week or so. best thing you can do is wear old socks.

the leather was probably stained prior to being sent from the factory. it will stop after a while. wear dark socks to hide it til then.
