ah, the old question of life change, and how do we influence others decisions, while respecting the ability to make them. I just connect with people, and let my views know in a non confronting manner, a friend of mine trains pit bulls, i used to not like them (still think there kind of ugly, but i like small dogs) but after knowing Randy for a while and kind of accepting it as a crazy Randy thing then just accepting it as a thing, that not all pit's are bad, and that some people really like them, am i ever going to get inside the cage w/ "Maggie" (112lb female) no, but i do stand around talking w/ him as she is in the truck, big change from when we first met (of course when we first met, i looked her in the eye, not thinking)

Changing their mind and having a successful argument are two different things.
I have a successful argument when the two parties have reciprocal dialogue and listening. Sometimes people just want to know that you understand what they're saying; once they've felt they've been heard, they are more apt to listen to me.
Not always, of course. And I sometimes swallow my impatience so that I listen to the other person first.
Once people feel they are heard, their defenses usually come down so that both sides can find common ground.

I know what you mean. I believe that evidence is what is needed to resolve an argument. There is simply nothing you can say to solid evidence. If you wish to convince them you would need to introduce them to a nice pitbull and let the rest work itself out.

Persuade and lead by EXAMPLE not just words. Practice what it is you preach and you just might convince people to change their mind.

Arguments are non productive. They are just exercises in the attempt to dominate. Egos are so fragile and needy.

I call them walls or idiots, It moslty depends on how annoyed with them I am. It's useless to argue with them so I don't bother with them anymore. If they are really annoying idiot walls I just stay away from them or avoid talking to them.

arguing usually does not work, but most people who are ignorant and confounded will never come to understanding unless they do research their own self. U need to try to get them to understand by being real. If they dont get it they dont get it
