I know all the warnings and I would never participate in their scams, but where do they find the email addresses of people?
I can't believe some people still believe they will get millions of dollars from someone they don't know who says their family was "former head of oil in Nigeria" or whatever the lastest line is.

It is a huge industry in Nigeria, and gives the whole country a sinister reputation when most Nigerians are hard working people. They showed it on Dateline and it is really amazing, shops with computers all over the place on tables when the cops raided it the thieves ran like cockroaches.

i don't know. i'm Nigerian and they did that to my brother (he didn't believe it but i did), but believe me, if they get caught, their punishments are way worse than what Americans get when they scam.

There are software programmes that crawls the net finding email addresses. Most people "biting" this are quite greedy and also a tad too gullible. Another thing is that it is inexpensive having people surfing finding addresses.

They probably aren't Nigerian and might have gotten email addresses from Yahoo Answers.

Mostly free based email accounts. I know it's nonstop at times....

i've wondered that myself. i really can't understand why some people could get themselves into such scams and lose all of their money to someone they don't even know.
