I have kept and bred red devils. Very nice looking fish, even if their color does often fade a little as they mature and age. I did though find them to deserve their name. They are ill tempered and nasty towards tank mates and will kill smaller, weaker fish. Kept with similar sized fish they are usually fine though. I kept mine ina very large tank in a group or 6 that as they grew to adulthood one after another was removed until I was left with only a breeding pair on the tank. They do get very large, so plan a large tank for even one and a very large tank for several.

I love Red devils. Once in awhile you will come across a really nice one. I have one that is all white except for a bright orange ring around his tail. Its pretty cool, and i got another one that is bright orange and no other flaws or colors on him. They are very strong fish and can get along with the more aggressive type fishes like Flowerhorns and Wolfs. They are farely easy to take care of. You will need a large tank because they get about 12-16 inches long.

They're great if you keep one alone in an aquarium. They will kill anything else that gets near them, so all by themselves they do perfectly fine. If you put them in a 30 gallon and just let them grow, it will be a few years before you have to upgrade your tank. Mine took about 3 years before he got too big, then I sold him to a fish store and they paid me $125 for him. I made a profit, yay! Go me!

they will need 75 gallons at least and usualy are intolerant of tankmates, when larger.

they are very similiar to midas and both of them will grow huge and very aggressive.

if your going to get one, get a 75-125 gallon just for it. if you go with a 125 you can get a common pleco. Remember to have a canister filter on a tank of that size.
