I can't stand not having sound at work, so I'm giving in and looking for some assistance.
I can't even access volume control. "There are no mixer devices available," pops up.
We thought maybe it wasn't working because there are no speakers hooked up, but with speakers or headphones plugged in, nothing works. However, I get the error/warning sound whenever a pop up occurs in a program, etc.
Any ideas?

The IT guy left last week, and they haven't gotten a new person to do the job.
So we're on our own for now.

Second of all, I know where the volume control is, thus why I posted the comment I did. I can't access volume control.
Is there a way to look at my specs to see what drivers I need to install??

I don't work in an office environment. The other person I work with on the computers has perfect sound. How do I find out what's up with my drivers?

Most work places have the computers set up with an image created basically to keep you from having any fun at work. The sound drivers are either not installed, or the hardware has been disabled. You probably don't have the permissions to even go in and make the changes yourself. The IT guy/gal has to do this for you, so make friends with him/her. In the meantime, get a cheap mp3 player

Hi. The error beep comes from a small speaker mounted on the motherboard, usually, so unless you know it is from your speakers then you may have a driver issue, or a volume control issue. The Volume control is under 'Entertainment' in your program files. "Start> All Programs> Accessories> Entertainment> Volume control>."

talk to your IT manager at work and ask for sound drivers for your specific computer

it sounds like the sound drivers got uninstalled somehow
