I just had one done, I"m 22weeks. They couldn't give me the gender. :-( When is the next ultrasound typically done?

at 22 weeks a good ultrasound technician should be able to determine gender (in fact, a bad one should at that point) but without reason another ultrasound will not be PAID FOR by insurance. A good reason would be decreased fetal movement as diagnosed by the mother (wink wink), smaller than normal uterine development, potential injury as reported by the mother (wink, wink), and others. Perhaps you should express any concerns you may have with your doctor.

WOW......who did your ultrasound? Was the baby not coaperating? I just had mine done yesterday and i am 19 1/2 weeks pregnant and you could easily see that its a boy. It took some time to be able to see in between the legs because he was sooo active. At 22 weeks they should have been able to tell you the sex of your baby. At this point there are no more ultrasounds done this would be the last one you get which is to see how the baby's organs and bone structure is forming unless you ask your doctor for another one you won't get one, unless the doctor recommends you get one more done if he sees there is a problem but if he didn't mention it then your baby is doing just fine your only other option is going to a 3D place but it will cost you a good penny i paid about $200 but i received a dvd and tons of pictures at 17 weeks. Good luck!

Unless there is a problem, typically you won't get another one unless they suspect that baby is in a poor position for birth and often that isn't done until you arrive at the hospital. Of course, that assumes that a concerning problem doesn't arise. Ultrasounds are not cheap! A diagnostic ultrasound on a fetus is often $500.

You probably won't have another one. In most healthy pregnancies, doctors only order one ultrasound, if that. I had two with my first, but only because I was in a car accident, so they wanted to make sure she was okay. My doctor never ordered one for my second baby, and my third baby only had one ultrasound. I've already had one with this baby at 9 weeks and am scheduled for another at 21 weeks, but I only had two because I didn't know my LMP. My suggestion is to contact an outside company, pay the $200 and have a 3D done.

Insurance will usually only cover 2 sometimes just 1 unless the baby is in danger so the next time you go to your obgyn ask him/her when you can have another one done because you want to know the sex. He/she would have a much better answer than us.
Good Luck and Congrats on being preggo!

you only get 2 scans 1 at 12wks and 21wks. that is it unless there is a problem. if you are that bothered about knowing the sex you could always tell a little fib like you are having bad pains then they will scan you again. make sure you drink lots of water though cause it makes the baby sproll out and the sex is easier to see . good luck .

Probably won't get one unless something is wrong. I got about 12 not including my first one due to my baby being breeched, fluid was low and finding out I can' birth vaginally.
So it best if you wait.

i got a bunch but i am high risk my last was at 32 weeks but it was done because i was having a heart attack they had to check on my son who slept through the whole nightmare. he is a fine healthy boy now.

if your pregnancy is healthy you probably wont get another unless they suspect something is wrong like with position please ask your doctor

you may be better off getting a "keepsake" ultrasound, its costs money, but you get a video, tons of photos and a 3-d scan. I loved it with my first baby, and may do it with this one.

there usually isn't a next one unless you request it or if there are complications before your due date.
sorry! you can request one but you will likely be required to pay for the whole thing-- insurance typically only covers it if it is medically necessary.
