(2x - 1)^2 = 25
Subtract 25 from each side:
(2x - 1)^2 - 25 = 0
Factorise as the difference of two squares:
(2x - 1 - 5)(2x - 1 + 5) = 0
(2x - 6)(2x + 4) = 0
2x = 6 or 2x = -4
Divide by 2:
x = 3 or x = -2.

x^2 + 3x + 1 = 0
(x + 2)(x + 1) = 0
x = -2 or x = -1.

3x^2 - 14x - 5 = 0
(3x + 1)(x - 5) = 0
x = -1/3 or x = 5.

ok well for the first one, you need to get rid of the squared sign on the left hand side, so you take the square root of (2x-1)squared and you get 2x-1. since you took the square root of one side, you have to do the same to the other side so you now have 2x-1=5. now you add the one on the left to both sides and you have 2x=6. now you divide 6 by 2 to get x which is three.

(2x - 1) squared = 25
Therefore 2x - 1 = Root of 25 = 5
2x = 5 - 1 = 4
So x = 4/2 = 2

(2x-1)^2 = 25
so 2x-1 = +25 or -25
2x = 26 or -24
x = 13 or -12

x^2 + 3x + 1 = 0
x = [ -3 +or- sqrt( 3^2 - 4(1)(1) ) ] / 2
= [ -3 + or1 sqrt (9-4) ] / 2
= (-3+sqrt(5))/2 or (-3-sqrt(5))/2 `````sqrt(5)=2.24
so x= -0.38 or - 2.62

3x^2 - 14x -5 = 0 (3x + 1)(x - 5) = 0
so x = -1/3 or x = 5

I am sorry, but this seems like your school homework. Shouldn't you be trying this on your own?

Guys, by answering students like this, are you really helping? When they grow up and have bigger issues in life, you wont be there to help them.

If you want to help them, teach them to be on their own.

I know I am going to get bad rating on this answer, but I do believe in what I am saying.
