In all states that I am aware of a licensed salesperson is an independent contractor that works under the jurisdiction of the qualifying broker making them an agent of the qualifying broker and a subagent of the customer/client of the consumer. The commissions received by a real estate salesperson can only come from their qualifying broker the real estate salesperson can not receive any compensation from anyone unless it is from their qualifying broker.

Technically, no. Even in the situation of commission splits between buying agents/selling agents, commissions are distributed between managing brokers, who then pay the commissions to the agents involved.
One is only to accept a commission check from his/her managing broker.
