If greatness is gauged on influence and impact on humanity I would have to say Constantine the Great. His decisions gave us a monotheistic world, the Vatican (catholic church), made Christianity the predominant religion of the Roman Empire and eventually the Western World. His founding of Constantinople stopped the muslims from invading Europe on a large scale. Single handedly saved the Roman Empire for another 100 yrs past its expiration date.

And did all as a worshiper of Apollo, and the catholic church has made him all but a saint. The world's greatest politician and most influential man in all of history.

Albert Einstein, not only was he a genius but when you read his biography you'll see he was a kind and loving man, he felt compassion for mankind, read the book, and you'll love him as much as I do, he never felt like he was better then anyone else, he didn't care about material things, he walked around with sweaters with holes in them, that wasn't important to him, it was more important to be nice to people than to care about what you were waring, everyone that he came into contact with loved him like he was their beloved grandpa, he was the type that if he saw a beggar in the street he would stop and talk to him just as he would any dignitary. He thought that the upper class were too stuck on themselves. I promise that if you read this book you will love it and Einstein, it was written by Denis Brian. If I may add another it would be Michelangelo, what a genius, there was nothing that he wasn't curious or interested in !

I don't think he's been born yet, but the man who can get this world to simmer on down and start working together instead of killing each other, he will be the greatest man who ever lived.

In terms of people already in the past, I would have to say my dad - because without him I wouldn't be enjoying my wonderful life.
