I admit I'm bias being a Yellow Jacket but are fans genuinely excited about getting Calvin. He is an awesome receiver and I'm still p*ssed the Falcons didn't get him.

What the feeling up there? Do most people think he'll contribute right away?

The excitement is off the charts. Just let me say this...........................Roy Williams, Furrey, And Calvin Johnson in a 3 wide, with a tank T.J. Ducket in the back Field. A rebuilt MAMMOTH offensive line.....Expect a ton of 3 wide from Detroit is what Martz already said.

30 points a game or more, LOOKOUT for Detroit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Detroit has some of the best wide receiver in the NFL because every year there first round pick is a wide receiver Roy Williams(2004) Mike Williams (2005) and now Calvin Johnson(2007). Calvin will take Mike Williams spot and Mike Furrey had an awesome year last year. This year though hopefully Detroit will play Drew Stanton over Kitna even though Kitna had first in Completions last year and was 4th in passing yards i think Stanton has the stronger arm and more speed. I really think the Lions should have gotten a better defensive line that can pass block because there isn't a pocket for that long for the QB. If he went to the Falcons he may have even had a worse season there because Vick most likely will not be there for many games.

I like Calvin Johnson, but the Lions kind of look like the Raiders of the 90s.

One big name WR after another, but no real improvement. I believe that they still need upgrading on defense. Duckett is not a proven work-horse and Kevin Jones as well as Tatum Bell are not very durable.

I hope they get things together this year. That could make things very interesting in the NFL "Norris" division (Vikes, Bears, Pack)!

Calvin Johnson will, at very least, provide some BIG highlights, especially with the other WRs that the Lions have (and Martz's style of coaching). Look for some 300+ passing yard games from Kitna, but around a .500 season in terms of team record. Maybe a year or 2 down the road they will have all levels finally tuned and oiled.

Let's see how it goes.........

P.S. They have to play 4 of their 16 regular season games against 2 very strong defenses - the Bears and the Vikes. That will put CJ to the test.

Well it looks as though Matt Melon finally got one right. The season hasn't even started and the rave reviews are all ready coming in! The mad scientist Mike Martz is going to have a field day with Roy Dub as the X, CJ at the Y position, and Furry in the slot. We also have Shawn McDonald, a very capable receiver as our fourth wide out. Look for martz to spread the field to open up seams for the HB(weather it be K. Jones, Bell, or Duckett) and create spacing for the receivers. It's going to be a big year in Detroit(as long as the D can stay off the field and away from the injury bug). The Falcons really fumbled the ball on this one!! They could have had some help for projected starter Joey Harrington(he isn't any better than the Yellow Jackets QB) who may have his last chance to prove himself in this league. Bottom line..........Look for Detroit to make a run at the playoffs.........Look for Atlanta at the bottom of the barrel. At least they still have the Braves, Hawks, and Thrashers!! PS Timmy is an Idiot.....Its Furry and no one would play stanton over kitna....get real!

After getting burned in the last few drafts a t the WR position and being a Lions season ticket holder, it is quiet enthusiasm. We are a little tired of top WR draftees playing themselves out of the league.

Everyone knows Calvin has showed up ready to play with hard work and is very coachable. We know he is following in the footsteps of Roy and not Mike or Charles...

With Furrey and Roy, he has every opportunity to make good progress and not have the pressure of carrying the WR corp.

He is 6'5 and runs a 4.3 40 and he will be matched up against the nickel corner when he comes in. Do I need to say anything else??? Look out for the Lions this year. If you are not a Lions fan now, don't jump on our bandwagon when we make the playoffs.

i think hes overrated just like charles rogers was...calvin will get injured in preseason just like the rest of the lions startes do every year...the fans made the lions a bad team by buying season tickes! the Ford family sees nothing wrong with the team beacuse every home game is sold out....if fans truly want the lions to get better they MUST stop going to the games...i dont know why people have such a hard time understanding this...its just common sense

They think a first round wide receiver is their "savior"... Anything new here? He'll contribute, and probably have a few highlights, but the Lions need more then another wide out to beat Da Bears.

Lets get real here. Detroit and WR's have been dismal. I hope he makes it, however, I am looking at past history.
