Wasnt Richard Nixon a republican? havent we seen enough of what the republicans have done to our country?

notice the wealth distribution in the country continues to be such that a small number of wealthy and influencial people, like the ultra-wealthy and the oil interested vested few keep exploiting the rest of our people? why dont we actually follow the constitution of the united states? it is the republicans who have gotten control and created this government totally nothing like the fair and equal promises we were given in the constitution. have you ever asked anyone who comes from one of our groups of underrepresented peoples?

why do we have apartheid in the united states?????

Again Thomas you are being misled by people in whom you give way too much trust (without questioning their motives).

Democrat leaders are as pro big-business as Republicans. They all have loads of big oil in their portfolios. They DO NOT care about the poor or underpriviledged except as "caretakers", thinking of them more as animals that need to be tended to (and hoping they'll stay in their poor neighborhoods). Take a drive over to the Kennedy compound or see if you can get through the gates to Nancy Pelosi's house or the Rockefeller's.

Of the top 100 richest members of congress, a majority of them are Democrats.

To me, the biggest problem is that the Democrat Party has been able to take its constituency for granted, year after year.

In 2006, Republicans showed their party that they won't be taken for granted. That's what the election was about. Democrats didn't win anything. Republicans lost the votes they thought they could count on no matter what.

But Democrats are never held accountable by their constituents.

Imagine if, just once, minorities decided to vote Republican in large numbers. It would SHAKE UP the election process like never before! Suddenly minority groups would find themselves being courted feverishly by BOTH sides of the aisle. Their votes would actually mean something. Overnight, they would have unimagined power.

But it never happens. Minorities are duped by lies and manipulation and just vote the way they always vote. Democrats don't have to deliver on a single promise, and Republicans don't bother pursuing them. So minorities LOSE. And that's been happening for 50 YEARS!!!

That's why it SEEMS like apartheid. But guess what, the minority groups are doing it to THEMSELVES.

People like you who buy the lies and don't stop for a second and question, "wait a second, is this really true?" fall in line and almost make themselves perpetual slaves, following what "boss" is tellin' you to do without questioning whether he really has his best interests for you in mind. And "boss" tells you all the really bad things that are going to happen to you if you don't listen to what he says.

That's the really sad reality of why we're in this sorry state.

You touch on some interesting issues, but sound too wrong for me to answer when you start talking about apartheid. Do some more research on that institution--since the slavery days (and maybe even including the slavery era--apartheid was like slavery without the fringe benefit of getting food) there was not an entrenched system of racism like that in the US--you have to look at some of the spanish colonies to see anything close to that in the Americas--and most of that (systemic racism that invades most aspects of life codified into law) went away when the colonies became independent.

Apart from that, you raise some interesting points about wealth distribution, and I wonder what you'll come up with after you see some answers and think on this a while.

You seem very upset over the obvious, yes the republicans are for big business. Let's us not omit the safeguards that have been lessened or lifted under this regime. If you put up all of the things done against the American public bush jr could not be described as anything other than a domestic terrorist.

The Constitution doesn't promise anything to anybody. All it does is establish a framework around which the government was established.

The Bill of Rights does guarantee various rights to the citizens. Which of these rights do you think you do not have?

There is no apartheid here.

Shouldn't you include other racists like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson?
