Sounds like a scam... if they ask you for money, turn around and leave. Reputable agents do not need to send people out hunting for new talent. New actors and sending them reels and headshots every day.

Just be careful. Come back and ask if you want to know how to find an agent on your own. Remember that reputable agents take 10% of your pay AFTER they help find you a job. Not one cent more and not one cent before.

Good luck!

I have gone to these events.
However I have gone because a friend had asked me to go with them.

I will warn you that from what I saw at the event made me feel sorry for a lot of people. Unfortunately most of the "scouts" at the conventions are not scouts.

What happens is the "talent" agency will hire 50 people to go out to these events and hook you and make you feel like you are the best thing scince Paris Hilton. Unfortunatly what they are selling is pain! What they do, is tell you everything is great , take some pictures and give you a card and set up a meeting at an office (usualy a rented office that is rather bare and void of "normal" talent agencies. Once they have you in their offices they will pitch you that you need to sign up with our service and for x amount of dollars, they will get you a nice package with a comp card, and some head shots.
Here's a heads up for you:
http://www.google.com.hk/search?hl=zh-TW&q=options+talent&btnG=Google+%E6%90%9C%E5%B0%8B&meta=

However a legit company who really wants you will provide those services for you after you go in and interview with them, sign release forms, show proof of age, proof of residence, a Birth certificate, and a legal guardian to be on site to fill out a parent/guardian relese, and proof of guardianship.

It's ok to go, and see what's out there but before you give anyone a check or sign on the dotted line check on the web about the company, or check with your local film commission about some of the talent agencies. I know here in Columbus Ohio we have Cam Talent which is really the better of them all.
