I live in New York City and am thinking of taking a short trip in August (about 4-5 days) and visiting a National Park. Any suggestions for a quick trip like this? I love to hike. I have been to Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Zion.

If you love to hike Glacier is the place. Yellowstones cool but mostly for wildlife viewing while Glacier is a hikers paradise. Fly into Glacier Int'l (worth the extra cost). There are a lot of great hikes and you could definitely fill up 5 days. If you go make sure to do Iceberg Lake and Hidden Lake and if you're in good shape Sperry. Look into openings at the two chalets in the park (Sperry and Granite Park). They're tough to get into (availability and access-wise) but they're amazing. Really unique experience.

I'm partial to Rocky Mountain National Park...it has great scenery, lots of hiking trails, and is easy to get to from Denver. Also, you don't have to worry about being eaten by the wildlife. Although black bears and mountain lions do live in the park, I've never seen either in all the years that I've been hiking there. Have fun choosing a park :-).

while i became into in college I spent a summer time working at Shenandoah national Park in Virginia and someplace between 1 / 4 and a million/2 of the park travellers have been in all probability distant places. Yellowstone and Yosemite are 2 of our greatest vacationer factors of interest and could be crammed with distant places travellers, particularly in the summertime. lots of the distant places travellers, particularly the Asians, are available super communities and barely stray far from paved surfaces so in case you get unwell of the crowds stroll a pair of mile into the woods and additionally you will in all probability have the placement to your self.

Yellowstone. You wont get to see nearly enough tho with 4-5 days, since there is so much. Fly into Jackson Hole, spend a day in Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons, then go up to Yellowstone. There is so much to do and see and its a huge park. The scenery, geysers, and wildlife is amazing. You will never forget it and trust me, you will want to go back.

Yellowstone isn't my favorite of places, but it is a nice place to go if you never been there. It's rather crowded and not secluded enough. South of Yellowstone is Grand Teton National Park, a very beautiful place.

My suggestion would be Glacier National Park. It's a little tough to get to, but it is one of the prettiest places in North America. (Photos on the Web site below) Be sure to get up to the Canadian side, too.

And bring a camera.
