I turned on my monitor and the screen is noticably shorter at the top. I've messed with the monitor controls and I cannot get it to display anything above the file edit tabs. There are also light blue lines trailing down from the top of the screen.

I was wondering if this was my monitor dying or if it was the video card. Thanks all.

monitors die a slow and often painful death.

Video cards ont eh other hand, generally commit an instantaneous suicide.

Sounds like you monitor is about to make it up to monitor heaven.

This sounds like it's a bad monitor. However, you should probably make sure by trying out a different monitor.

monitor, if a card dies it dies all together... the "shorter" on top can be changed in the settings probably, but the blue lines are probably your monitor dying...

it sounds like the monitor needs to be recalibrated but it would be cheaper to just buy a new one.
