I would give the money back to her. you never know if that your not being honest could cost her, her job. people make mistakes. what if you gave her a 100 dollar bill thinking it was a 10 dollar bill. she gives you the change you expected and pockets the rest for herself? do onto others what you want others to do onto you.

If I was still at the store, I would call them on their mistake. Sometimes people lose their job for the littlest things.
A similar scenario happened to me before, except I was at the bank making a withdrawl and the teller mistakenly gave me twice the amount I was withdrawing. When I told her she made a mistake, she told me that she didn't because she logged the initial withdraw into the computer and refused to take back the money since she claimed to not have made a mistake. Oh well.

I'd go back to the cashier and tell her and trade the $10 for the $1.

Well actually I was at one of those self check-outs at Home Depot the other week and it was like I hit the Jack-Pot and money started rolling out the little tray and I called a cashier over and told her it was screwed up. I got my right change and gave the rest back to her.I always say if I can't get it the right way I don't need it. Plus they have to pay out of their own pocket if they make a mistake and I know most of them don't get paid very much and they work hard too.I'd just feel guilty as hell if I kept it.

This happened before to me and I kept it because the girl was being stupid and rude so of course I kept it but usually if something like that happens I give it back. I used to work on a register and I know what it's like if you come up short.

Have done it on quite a few occasions -- giver back and
negotiate for my proper change. (for those who don't know,
the cashier backs his/her till out-of- pocket -- and they
ain't rich).

I would tell her and give it back. Otherwise she has to come up with the money. And that just isn't nice!
