Okay, so I want another pet. I own two cats-one hunter and one princess-two scorpions, and now I want a snake. So far the ball python has been appealing to me. I've read that this snake can max out at 5ft-which isn't people-eating size but its big for a cat. My fear is that it will get out and I will be lessened by 2 cats. People at petco tell me that they feed them rabbits which is roughly the size of a cat. So I just want an opinon- can I get this python and my cats be safe? Or am I better off get something like a corn snake, which can hit the same length (roughly) but not the same girth- so my kitties can have a shot if it gets out?? And do they have Salmonella shots for snakes (I know thats waayy off subject)?

Sure you can, but you need to make sure the snake can't get out. It will be awhile before the snake is big enough to eat a regular sized cat. I'm not sure about the salmonella shots, but I do know that you need to wash your hands or shower after playing with your other pets before you handle your snake. The snake uses scent to detect it's food, so if you handle your cat & you have the scent on your hands & you handle your snake you could be asking for trouble. I think ball pythons are beautiful snakes, I love them. Good luck. 2D

well a ball python will not get big enought to eat a cat. an adult ball could prob eat a new born cat but not a cat must older. a big ball python can eat a baby rabbit too. make sure the snake cant get out or its in a room that has a door and you close it when your not in there so the cats cant get in

yeah you can get one,
just make sure you put its cage in a high place so your cats cant get to it.
I have a bunch of pets at my house , including a snake . and my cats always get on my snakes cage. So i put big pieces of wood on my snakes cage , so my cats cant break the screen .

of course!! get the baal python. really. JUST MAKE HIS TERRARIUM ESCAPE PROOF. ball pythons make great escape artists.
