I'm curious as to where you get your facts. I heavily doubt rich Americans get worse health care then homeless in any country. And I bet our children live longer then kids in Botswana.
But, yes. Militarily, we're powerful. The world economy is based on our dollar. People from every nation trade with us, and come here for education and work. English is the business langauge, and don't tell me it's because London is so powerful. All the best sports (except soccer, which doesn't count) are played here. We are vibrant and strong in the world.
We're a world power.
What country are you from?

It's the super power in my life. I couldn't care less what the rest of the world thinks. I have awesome health care and I see some of the greatest doctors. I have no complaint. I suggest if anyone else hates America, they can move to another country and get put on long waiting lists for MRIs and cancer treatment. Everyone has a choice. If you don't like America, don't live here. It really is that simple.

Superpower =/= quality of health care
Superpower = amount of military forces, economic might, and international influence.
Yes, America is the only superpower for now. In 50 years, other countries will rise, but as of today, America is a superpower.
And by the way, it's not that Americans don't want socialized medicine, it's just that the insurance industry sways politicians with their $$$.

By superpower, we are actually referring to military power and strength of the nation.
America has all the latest military equipments, vehicles and fighter planes at its disposal. It has even managed to send thousands of troops in the invasion on Iraq, Saudi Arabia and some other nations in the history. It controls the Security Council of the UN, donating around 25% of the UN funds.
So, in that view, it is the superpower of the world, and precisely the reason why Bush is wreaking havoc around Asia and the Middle East.

How can America be a "superpower" if they cannot take care of their own people? Well they can't. It is like the 200 lb man that abuses his loved ones...how can they fight back. They are defenseless. Power and control is the order of the day.
It is rather cowardly if you think about it. We had/have men and women sacrificing their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq, only to come back now with PTSD ( post traumatic stress disorder ) after their tours of duty, and numerous other health issues the VA has either not dealt with effectively, or is lacking the resources to do so. These young men and women sacrifice with their lives, like heroes do, and our government responds like a group of cowards. People are not disposable commodities like toilet paper, but that is what is happening. We saw it with Vietnam and now with Afghanistan and Iraq...and that is just one example of our poor health care "system." We have people who die every day in this country because they lack health insurance. You can get treated at a hospital in an emergency room but you are released immediately once you are stabilized in their opinion...which means you can go home and die of an infection or an unanticipated complication.
Additionally people with insurance are told their policies do not cover X, Y, Z procedure and they become indigent, or severely in debt trying to pay to save their lives, or the life of a loved one. Many cannot afford the high deductibles and have their credit ruined as they have charges not covered under the policy left unpaid.
Americans put up with it because the top 2% in our country control all the wealth and the regulatory bodies such as our government and the large insurance companies. Pharmaceutical companies provide kick backs to Doctor's, insurance companies etc. Getting sick is big business and you must be able to pay for it. Clearly the poor, and even many middle class, students, single mother's, father's etc. suffer because they cannot afford the price of health insurance. Health insurance companies operate , similar to hospitals under a bottom line, not one defined by human decency or compassion. Yea...God Bless America....

Bull! If that were accurate, people from other countries--especially dignataries, would not come to the US. Our infant mortality rate is not higher than Botswana. We have thousands of free clinics, free imunizations, and drug companies that help provide meds for those who can't afford it. You are just afraid to take care of yourself. You want your government to spoon feed you and not have you be responsible. It must be nice to be a adolescent forever.

America is the worlds only super power. God has blessed america, making it the best country in the world. God loves America. If you don't like it, pick up your belongings and leave. Don't let the door hit you on the tushy on the way out.

Super power has do do with nuclear arsenal and deployable strategic warheads and the size of a nuclear navy.
I dare you to live in any of the countries you think are better than the US and then come back and tell me what it is like not to have hot water, or cheap food, or %60 of your income taxed, or be arrested for speaking out about the government.
