In Texas, what is the rule or law on area lakes for living on a houseboat as it pertains to drinking on the water? Is it permissible? What about while docked or in a slip?

BUI, or Boating Under the Influence refers to moving vessel. When the vessel is moored or anchored or in the slip, alcohol may be served.

It's not a problem if you're not underway. But, drinking while underway is just the same as drinking while driving. So...at the mooring or the dock, get plastered and sleep it off. If the boat is moving and you're the operator, keep the cap tight on the booze or risk a DWI.

Best call the marine patrol= sheriff an find out for sure as the operator can not drink at all. It's open contaner is the issue??
