Mixed feelings.

It's mostly a band aid for those that that end of the wage scale. Wages do go up across the board eventually, but then so do prices. It will help industries such as electronics because there will be more money to be spent on things such as CD players and IPods. I doubt if the Lexus market will be affected.

On the down side, it makes illegal labor more attractive. When you have people coming here illegally and willing to work for less than minimum wage, this make that pool of labor more valuable to industries willing to exploit them.

Mixed bag

It is another example of "feel good"legislation. Increasing the minimum wage hasn't decreased poverty rates in the past and won't this time.It will affect mostly part timers. In Florida we already have a higher minimum wage than the new Federal law.It hasn't changed a thing. With many "illegals" being paid under the table, it won't help their plight either.Business, which provides All monies to the treasury, one way or another, must make a profit or doesn't survive.Government on the other hand doesn't create any wealth and operates on a constant deficit and huge debt.No business would survive a week if it was run like government.

Going to make it difficult on some small businesses to survivie over the next few years as the minimum wage increases. Good for the folks making this wage but we need to have some incentives for the small businesses that can't absorb this type of increase. Be nice if the government would do a little more to support small business in this and other areas.

Yes, I noticed the price of groceries just shot up. Love that government forced inflation. People will be back to the status quo soon with more people being worse off than before, happens ever minimum wage increase.

I think it is good although it does not effect me. I support the hard working minimum wage earner that isnt setting on their behind looking for a handout.

I think it is a good thing. Many people who work for minimum wage have a hard time making ends meet. We should give them credit for having a job and not just collecting welfare (speaking to those who are able to work). They deserve to have an increase in their wages.

wish my wage went up, too. this probably doesn't help me at all.... it might even hurt according to the laws of economics. But - good for the high school students and lower income families.
