Celeron and Sempron have limited performance when it comes to games and graphical modeling programs.
These processors are most suited to businesses who's primary use of a computer is for e-mail and office applications.

Also, you don't need a high-end processor for music and chatting. The best processors for optimum mobile performance are currently Intel Centrino and AMD Turion64.
AMD is also coming up with its own "Griffin" processor for mobile computing.

When it comes to gaming you will want a system that gives optimal performance. You will also want to look for a laptop with a high-end graphics card - preferably NVidia.
And where there is NVidia there are high performing processors like Intel Core and Core Duo. (The only downside is the costs)

I'd recommend you look into the Acer brand and Fujitsu-Siemens for your shopping.

The processor of choice would be an Intel Core2Duo. It offers a high level of performance which would be good for gaming and video playback. They offer good battery life too. The older series (CoreDuo) is good too and are a little cheaper.

The best price/performance processor would be a T5600, or if you can find one with T7100. They are both dual cores running at around 1.8GHz.

For gaming you should look for a laptop that offers discrete video - a Graphic Processing Unit (GPU). Most laptops are designed for word processing, email and web browsing type of tasks; and are not good for gaming. Laptops with a discrete GPU tend to be more expensive. Another advantage is that a GPU is used for video decoding and would make video playback much smoother than on one that has integrated video.

Intel Core 2 Duo is the latest from Intel. Intel Core Duo is the first generation Duo, the Core 2 Duo is the second generation. There is a quad core on the way too.

I don't even think they make Celeron anymore?

I wouldn't buy any AMD based machine myself.

Don't go to Alienware unless you like wasting an extra $1,000 for a pretty case. I got an HP machine recently with the NVidia 8800 GTS and a Core2 2.0 ghz w/ 2GB RAM recently for around $2,500. It was so worth it, but even the lower end models are nice.

how much are you willing too spend
you can go to sites to build your own computer
try the
Core 2 Extreme processor with NVIDIA 8800 GTS 768mbs it will fulfull all your needs
but try going to alienware.com
thry have laptops for all kinds of uses and you can choose what operating system you want on it and you said you wanted windows vista.
P.S. windows vista is garbage i would not recomend it
stay with Windows Xp all vista is is an upgraded XP with a little more new features.
