I've always wondered about that! Isn't that kind of a frightening image to a child to think that "when the wind blows, the cradle with fall"? I wonder who wrote that lullaby!

You know, I never thought of that! It's freaky if you think about it. I think "down will come baby" symbolizes your baby's falling asleep when you've finished the song, but that's a darned good question.

heh, lullabies are weird aren't they? And ring around the rosie is about dying of a plague.
My aunt used to sing me lullabies about a boy dying of pollio, and a woman getting murdered... it was from a song by courtney love, i think, but she turned it in to a lullaby.

Well ring aroudn the rosey is about the black plague. I do not sing at all at any time. I hand them and I-pod and go to sleep myself.
