Petroleum, pharmaceutical, health insurance, and big greedy heartless industries such as halliburton, and, comcast who own our politicians, and won't let anything happen that might nibble at their profits. I feel we are at their mercy, which is one of the few things they don't have Wait and see what happens to SCHIP. I'm so frustrated and mad as hell. when and how will we take back our country ?

Let's put it this way:
In a free market system, any company that can cut corners to save money will be more profitable than one that does not. Any company that can fudge sale and distribution to prevent (possibly superior) competitors from appearing in the market will be more profitable than one that does not. Any company that can convince people that their product has more value than it does and get them to buy it therefore will be more profitable than one that does not. And a profitable company is more likely to survive and thrive.
Thus every company has every motivation to lie, cheat, and steal as much as they can possibly get away with... and sometimes more than they can get away with if the potential profits are greater than legal penalties.

I didn't know we had any industry left in America after the Clinton administration sold us out with NAFTA.
