I am currently 6 months pregnant with my 2nd baby and I did not have to get an adjustment. You do need to make sure you are taking your prenatal vitamins and drinking lots of water. Continue eating small meals throughout the day and don't worry about the lapband. Just remember to eat when your hungry - during your pregnancy your metabolism will be higher than usual so you will not gain as much weight as you normally would but is that really such a bad thing? After my first baby I was back to my pre-baby weight within 3 weeks. My baby was born weight 7lbs 4oz and I gained a total of 17 lbs. I had my lapband surgery in 2003 and most of the time I forget it's there. Hope this helps!

I had Gastric Bypass in 2003 and lost 90 pounds before getting pregnant with my son almost exactly a year later. I had 3 early miscarriages due to diabets (1 I got pregnant a month after the surgery and blood sugars were still an issue). I had an easier time with my pregnancy with my son. I kept my blood sugars under control, but because they were high when I first got pregnant I had problems with the placenta and I ended up with placental abruption at 29 weeks. He had to be born by emergency c-section. He will be 3 in a few weeks and we are lucky..no delays or other problems. Just make sure to take your vitamins, and check with the doctor that did the surgery for any extra precatuions. I was lucky because the OB/GYN I had actually assisted in my surgery so he knew all about the risks.

I haven't had the surgery, but have read about it A LOT. (Thinking of doing it myself, and I do want to have more children, so that is an important thing for me). Anyway what I have read says that the surgeon that performed the surgery can loosen the band to be sure that you are getting enough food and nutrients for the baby. So, I would go see him/her. Don't worry about gaining the weight back, because the band can be tightened back after the birth of your child if needed. This loosening/tightening doesn't require another surgery because the band is accessable thru the skin. It is designed that way just for things like this. Hope this helps.

Hi there. I didn't have the Lap Band, but I did have a gastric bypass. The most important thing you need to do to make sure you have a healthy child and keep yourself healthy, is making sure you are taking in enough nutrients. My doc told me to wait until at least 18 months after having surgery to have another baby, so you're safe there. I only waited 9 months before I got pregnant again, and my son was healthy. Good luck!

Make sure you eat well and take your vitamins. Because of your lap band you can't eat as much as you sometimes should so it may make it difficult for your baby to get all the nutrients s/he needs. Instead of eating chips or candy, opt for something healthy cause you need all the nutrients you can get. Good luck and congrats!

You should call the surgeon who did your lap band for the answer and also have him send a letter to your ob gyne about it.

My dr. told me they can take out fluid to make sure you eat enough. You just also want to be really selective about the food you eat so that way you keep a healthy diet!
