Please, could someone explain the following I have read:
- dead centre channel ('find the navigational solution for dead centre channel' says the captain, when sailing under a bridge)
- 10 degrees right rudder to 262
-"is that channel clear"? (what does he mean?)

Means he wants to be in the center of the channel an is the channel clear then 10 degrees right rudder to 262 OK he is on a course heading an wants to get to compass heading 262 so the helmsman turn the wheel to the right until the compass reads 262.then straighten the wheel back to center an holds the 262.
