Since MIT is an "institute of technology", it has chosen to specialize, and if you were planning to be an art history major, for example, it would not be the right place to go. Harvard has good law and business schools, but it is not only for law and business; it has a lot of outstanding departments and schools across the board (you wouldn't do badly to study science at Harvard either). The same can be said of Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Duke, and some of the other top-tier schools out there. Unless a school chooses to have a narrow focus (and of the top schools, really only MIT and Cal Tech do), while there each has some areas of strength, they would not be considered top-tier schools if they were not really strong, in areas as diverse as Theater (Yale has a really strong theater school), Theology, African-American Studies, etc. In most cases, specialties shift, depending upon who is on faculty at any given time, so if you know exactly what you want to study, you may look at which school is best in that area. If you are undecided, any of these schools would be an excellent choice.

You're not quite correct. You can major in the same or similar things at each of these schools. It's more about how a particular school fits the student.

Each school has a different approach to teaching, a different personality, and a different environment. They may have the same majors - in fact, in many cases, they do. A student can study engineering at Harvard or MIT or Stanford. A student can study business at MIT or Yale or Duke.

It's true that MIT has more of an engineering, science and technological bent than the other schools you list. The other schools have more of an emphasis on the liberal arts. But there are, in some cases, the same or similar majors at each of these schools. I used to hire engineers, for example, and I looked at MIT and at Stanford. When I hired for business (MBAs), I hired out of Stanford, Harvard and MIT. Each school simply has a different approach, and a different environment. You need to look at each one and find the ones that fit you best.

Haha, the role sounds humorous/hilarious - even though it's an absolute necessity in Malaysian colleges. I consider Ali Baba will have to be head of safeguard - Bruce Willis very frightening within the white blouse and gun.
