I use a shortened form of my name on purpose because my whole name is too much.

OMG, that's one of mine too! My name is Kristin and I can't STAND it when people try to call me Kris or Krissy or anything like that! I've only let ONE person call me Kris my whole life and that's one of my aunts. Even when I was little I'd get an attitude and say "my NAME is KRISTIN!". I don't know why it bothers me so much!

Its pretty hard to shorten "Lisa"-- but some people do call me "Lis" and I like it. It usually only people who know me really well and care about me.

There is no shortened version of my name, if someone shortened it, they'd sound pretty ridiculous

Most people cant even pronounce my first name as it is, so I'd much rather have a nick-name than for them to butcher my name.

Yes, the shorter form of hello would bother me also !!!
Hey, if someone wants to call me Sue instead of Suzie, that's okay.

I find it very presumptuous. I do appreciate it when people ask if I go by my full name or not, since everyone has different preferences. For instance, people dare not call my husband by his full name, he hates it.
