Because it is not an official suspension...It is a leave of absence...If he is found guilty, his contract will likely be terminated and the Falcons won't have to honor it...

He's not under an official suspension as of yet. And for the people that think he can't have his pay suspended before his day in court, they're dead wrong. The NFL is doing its own investigation to find out if he violated league policies such as the personal code of conduct. If they find he has violated that, they can suspend him without pay for whatever term the commissioner deems necessary - even if he is found innocent in the court of law. It has nothing to do with the courts and everything to do with his conduct and how it affects the leagues image.

He's being paid because he has not been suspended or has he had his contract terminated. Until Roger Goodell says that he's violated some NFL rule, and that violation warrants Michael Vick's contract to be terminated or he's suspended without pay, he will continue to be paid. Even if he takes the leave of absense that the league wants him to take, he'll still be paid because he's only taking this leave of absense because they want him to. This was not Mike's idea. And until he's been found guilty of something, he'll continue to get paid.

Well they can't just stop paying him before he is even in a court room. This happens to police all the time. If there is a charge against them they will take a paid leave of absence until it is taken care of.
