Unfortunately there are some of us who are older and were smoking way before the Surgeon General came out with his warnings. I began smoking when I was 13, so by the time the warnings came out I was already hooked. I can't say I haven't tryed to stop, many times, and have done so for years at at time, but somehow it doesn't take. Maybe it's all the medicines I'm on due to the pain of disability of the disasease I have. Too many heavy drugs seem to have caused me to have returned to smoking and my doctors have said I have too much to deal with currently to put my body through trying to deal with the process of withdrawal. I know it may sound like a cop out but if you lived with the pain I do daily you might understand.

I used to before I had kids, but 3 months before I got pregnant I quit! That was 16 1/2 years ago....I have never gone back to them since.....even with my divorce and the stress lately not even a desire to smoke again so one could say that...that addiction is well in my past. A thumbs down for quitting its the best move I ever made for my health and that of my family's!

Occasionally. Sometimes 2 or 3 a day. But if I don't have any cigarettes I don't go mad trying to find one.

No, I do not. I mean, I will sometimes have a cigarette when I am drinking. But I do not smoke on a regular basis.

Yeah and I'm probobly one of the last people proud of it. I don't want to quit, because it's one of the last legal escapes I have from this reality. Spare a square.

Not anymore -- I quit almost 4 months ago, but I still consider myself a "smoker". I wonder if anyone else does that, and when I'll think of myself as a non-smoker?
