The climate in India would become much more temperate and drier. Cold air would sweep down from the north, and prevent as many tropical storms from forming or making landfall. The major rivers would flood less, and agriculture would change drastically.

The Main Function of The Himalayan Range are as below,
They act as a barrier to the cold winds coming from the north to enter India.
It acts as a barrier to the S.W moisture lainden winds entering India, thus causing rainfall in the Gangetic plains.
It protects India against foreign invasions.
It is the place of origination of many great rivers such as The Ganga and Yamuna.
It attracts tourists around the world for its scenic beauty.
It has many holy shrines situated on it.
Thus if the Himayas were not there, none of the above would have happened.

If the Himalyas were not there the following would have not been possible.
The Himalayas have a profound effect on the climate of the Indian subcontinent and the Tibetan plateau. It prevents frigid, dry Arctic winds from blowing south into the subcontinent, which keeps South Asia much warmer than corresponding temperate regions in the other continents.

It also forms a barrier for the monsoon winds, keeping them from travelling northwards, and causing heavy rainfall in the Terai region.
The Himalayas are also believed to play an important part in the formation of Central Asian deserts such as the Taklamakan and Gobi deserts.

The mountain ranges also prevent western winter disturbances from Iran from traveling further, resulting in snow in Kashmir and rainfall for parts of Punjab and northern India.

Despite being a barrier to the cold northernly winter winds, the Brahmaputra valley receives part of the frigid winds, thus lowering the temperature in the northeast Indian states and Bangladesh. These winds also cause the North East monsoon during this season for these parts.

In turn, the weather phenomenon called Jet Stream affects our image of the highest peaks on earth. The strong stream of winds from the west pass through Everest, creating a familiar plume of snows blowing from the summit, and visible from a great distance.

The himalayan glaciers are the perennial source of the great rivers the ganges & the yamuna
The mountains are also the abode of rich flora & fauna.

The Himalayas, due to their large size and expanse, have been a natural barrier to the movement of people for tens of thousands of years.
In particular, this has prevented intermingling of people from the Indian subcontinent with people from China and Mongolia, causing significantly different languages and customs between these regions.
The Himalayas have also hindered trade routes and prevented military expeditions across its expanse. For instance, Genghis Khan could not expand his empire south of the Himalayas into the subcontinent.
The Himalayas are the natural barriers on the north protecting the boundary from foreign occupation till today.

1) Stops the cool winds from Arctic coming on to India and causing chill waves
2) Is a barrier for the monsoon winds and forces them to come bounce and come back into India causing the monsoons. Failing which there would have been no rains in India and it would have been a desert and the proof of this lies in the converse of this i.e. because it blocks and bounces the monsoon regions to its north are we know as the Central Asian Deserts (Taklamakan and Gobi)
3) Political impacts - Gives a protection to India from foreign invaders coming in from the North and due to the himalayas people could not go over to the northern side of it and hence the language and culture of Mongolia and china are so much different from that of India. Again looking at the flip side, the language and culture of India - Pakistan - Iran are similar because there never existed a natural barrier. Similarly there is certain similarity between the NE states of India because they do not have this geographical barrier.

Himalaya mountain actually protects India from intense cool breeze coming from the northern hemisphere. Otherwise our country India would be covered with ice and an extreme climate would predominantly exist making the land difficult to live in.
