Now that its over many have written that the epilogue was too vague, specially with how all the characters lives played out after the great war of hogwarts. How do you guys end it, what would you have each of the characters she has not mentioned be and do after the war? what happens at hogwarts? at the ministry of magic? all of the DA and Order members? the death eaters? I'm interested to know what people would make of it.

Well, I know JK meant to not write it all but I was just wondering what you all would make of it.
Head of Hogwarts - McGonagall
Harry most definitely an auror and I highly suspect that Neville did too the way his grandma was so proud. The Malfoys have to have gone to Azkaban along with any of the death eaters that were captured. I don't see Hermione as an auror so I would place in the Ministry of magic working in a department for the advancement of equal right for all. I can see Ron as either and Auror or as at the Ministry because of his father working their and Percy too. Luna I suspect would continue to inherit the Quibbler or whatever it is from her father. George would have to go back to the joke shop it would probably be running even stronger now that voldemort is defeated. He might even team up with another person like Lee Jordan to help run it. Bill continues his work at the ministry and I’m sure Mr. and Mrs. Weasley deserve a much awarded retirement. Draco was forgiven.

Neville was a gifted teacher and very loved.
Hagrid married Olympe and has equally large children who also loved to raise dragons.
The dursley became more human, and though still terrified by harry's weirdness still saw him once a year.
Big D kept more in touch, he would always be gretful to harry for saving his life.
Luna Lovegood became editor of the Prophet, but after many corcened letters from the readers, decided to edite the Quibbler instead where she could rant about how the new minister of magic was half warewolf. She is dating Neville.
Teddy lupin lived with her grandmother, tonks mother, and sept a lot of time in harry's house. Harry became the sirius of teddy.
George weasley became rich and made a nice living of his store. he Married Katie Bell and his children are now in Hogwarts.
Charlie continued his work in Romania wiht Dragons, he is often visited by harig who likes to check up on Norbeta. Mrs. Weasley was never able to convince him to get a propper hair cut.
Kreacher now works wiht harry where he is very happy but not free. Harry still doesnpt trust him as much as he did with Dobby. He lives in Godric's hollow
Dean realized that he was a full wizard as JK states in her web site. he tried to make a career as a quiddditch player but was as succesful as Gorgovitch.
Ron and Hermione live near the Borrow. Hermione tires to keep her wizard life and muggle life combined. She is a gifted writer in muggle affairs. I ahve no idea what Ron's job is though. I can't find anywhere in the books what the hell he wanted to be.
I think that's it. At least that is the way i would like the ending to be.

Well, to start off, I don't think that Harry, Hermione and Ron need to go back to Hoqwarts, they already know enough and have defeated Dark Wizards, so I think they are considered to have graduated. This includes Neville as well.
I definitely think Harry then became an Auror, not 100% sure about Ron, I think he would be in the Ministry as part of the Auror department. Ginny would either be an Auror or working for the Ministry. I think Hermione should be a professor, but possibly she will be working in the ministry for promotion of Elvish welfare! Luna might be a healer, though I see her as a kindly mother type. Aberforth goes back to his bar, Mr Weasley becomes head of the Muggle Department in the Ministry and is well respected. Kingsley is Minister for Magic, though Ron might be a good successor when Kingsley gets old. Hagrid stays at Hogwarts as a professor and McGonagall is headmistress. George still runs the shop successfully.
Lucius and Draco go to Azkaban but Draco is released and is rehabilitated. I think Harry might organise something for him to do. All the remaining Death Eaters go to Azkaban as well. Stan Shunpike is let off as he was Imperiused.
Mundungus Fletcher never changes.

The ending seemed vague to many people, but to me it seemed to fit. If she had written about all the DA and Order members it would have taken up much more space. She did what she needed to, she told us who got together and who they became. I.E- Harry, Ginny, Ron, Hermionie, Draco all became parents and Neville became a teacher. Those were the main characters and we can guess that they led happy lives after Voldermort was defeated. Personally I love that she named one of Harry's sons "Albus Severus Potter" I love that!! I seems as though he has the names of 3 of the most well known wizards in the world!

im guessing that at hogwarts, proffesor mcgonagall becomes headmaster. The ministry of magic is probably repaired and they picked a new minister. the da probably dissolved since there is no more use for it. the death eaters most likely are in azcaban. and the rest of the characters lived happily ever after.

I thought the way J.K. Rowling ended the series was perfect! She gave us a little peek into the future, we read about when Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermoine sent their kids off to school.. but really that little glimpse of the future was all we needed, because the series was about the main characters as kids...
I hope what I wrote made sense...

An interesting point I found was that this book was set in about 1996 (the year is definetely stated somewhere), so the epilogue is therefore set about 6 years in the future.
