That must refer to the fact you can only vote the fool in twice? Therefore he cannot fool you into voting for him again...
and yes the original saying did end fool me twice, shame on me.

I thought it was 'Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me'. I agree though great saying.

It usually ends with "shame on me" but you're right, it's a classic.

Actually it goes 'fool me once, shame on.......................... you.............. (pause).............. you fool me ya can't git fooled again!!' (followed by embarrassed silence)
I agree with him, and also that the hardest job in the world is to put food on your family, the literacy rate of our children are appalling and that the human being and fish can co-exist peacefully.
