Wow....now they STILL have the biggest deficit in baseball!!! Every other divisional race is closer than the Red Sox / Yankees. I never though the day would come when a Yankee fan would be thrilled about being 7-1/2 back from the Red Sox. Just goes to show you that the Yankees are just another mediocre team these days. Why don't you wait until they get half way through August....

Nobody has ever called the Yankees the comeback kids until you wrote this question. Not sure where you got that from.
Usually teams like the Royals, D-Rays (and other lower echelon teams) get excited when they are 7 1/2 games out of first in July.
Like you said, guess you didn't learn anything from the Sox -- maybe you didn't see the ALCS in '04?

They went on a streak like this earlier in the year (think right after they announced Clemens was coming back) and cut it to about 7.5 games then proceeded to lose 9 in a row. They are not a complete team. Have too many holes and Boston is too strong for the Yanks to catch. Yeah have fun and be excited, but be realistic too and realize what is going on. Nice run they are putting together, but wait until they start slumping again.

Only 7 and a half games??? Dude they're playing great but not really gaining any ground so it's kind of pointless. If they weren't in the AL there record would be pretty good but they are in the toughest division in baseball so 7.5 games back is a long way off.

Dude, if I was a yankee fan, I would say hold up and don't jinx the team. If you can learn one thing from a sox fan, it should be not to get too cocky, because it can all come crumbling down in a heartbeat.

As a Sox fan I really never doubted this would happen, however consider who you are playing and who you WILL be playing. the Yanks have a playoff schedule at the end of the season, Cleveland, Detroit, Boston and L.A. Angels.... good luck with that!

The Royals are only 16.5 games out and are tied for 4th in the AL Central. They usually play great ball in August and September which means they won't finish in last place or lose 100 games!!!!
Now thats something to get excited about!!!
GO ROYALS!!!!!!
