...Many states register "voters" based solely on utility stubs, local address, and maybe a DR liscense. Recently Texas was "embarrassed" to find that their prospective jurors were NOT US citizens... (seems the jury pool is taken from registered voter rolls)
...Why has there been NO demand ( or even noise) for a Federal data base that correlates birth/death records???? In todays technological world, identifying a US citizen should be a few mouse clicks away. Yet every election, we joke about how many dead people vote ??
...Given the vast influx of illegals & the easy availability of fake papers, Should citizens be worried?? Its always been easier to "game" a system than to break it or change it.
...Should citizens be worried? Has our ability to govern ourselves become a joke since with a little funding from xxx anyone can get a voter card???

NOTE: all states record birth/deaths BUT all states have NOTcompleted the transfer of paper records to a data base for back-up...some how the funding gets used"elsewhere" by the state legislature...despite a federal directive
...Updating is easier andless expensive than issuing a new birth or death certificate. PLUS it provides for an automatic flag when a deceased person is applying for a copy of "their " birth certificate...

On the surface it sounds like a good scheme. However, to me, it is just another way for the government to interfere in my life. It has worked fine for over 200 years. I really doubt that any thinking person believes the vote is honest. If they do then leave them alone.
I for one am registered in too many places. I do not want any more.
Your ides, as I said is sound. But you talk about gaming it. Well, someone would find a way to game the new system.

You will always get what you always got if you always do what you always did! We need to work out a new way of electing our political EMPLOYEE! It is obvious from the last several elections the process is no longer held sacred or protected from manipulation. Maybe it does not make any difference who is in office anymore anyway; they accomplish little but cost us a bunch. Maybe they should be required to wear lie detectors and have the results of their answers displayed in front of them. Maybe the debates should be held more like the program Truth or Consequences or monitored for correct answers (like Jeopardy) and have the truth publicly posted. Our biggest problem is deciding who is the best person for office based on the “song and dance” routines. Unless there is some easier way of verifying the truth of what is said they can promise a lot. Just because they have wined and dinned with foreign leaders does not make them best to represent us in office. What have they factually done (as politicians or just as a U.S. citizen) to make the worthy of office. Probably the best way to elect a person into office is to not run campaigns but rather have open elections where we just vote on someone, anyone, we think would do the best job. We haven’t done much better the last two elections and look how much it is costing before and after the elections. We can only hope the best song and dance person is also the best person for the job. However, look at the current standings; the song and dancers are up front followed a bit back by the better candidates and way back are those who have neither a verifiable and adequate background but lack the ability to communicate with anything but honest answers

I don't think very many illegals votes and you have to bring a form of ID and swear that you are eligible.

If they find you doing it you can end up in jail violating the election laws!

More of a concern to me are people like Jeb Bush, who makes it as hard for blacks to vote as he possibly can, and then throws out all of those voted suspected to have a criminal record! Guess what! Most he threw out did not have a criminal record!

Every election someone is going to get cute, like the Republicans here (who are now in jail) who jammed all the Democrats lines on election day so they could not give people a ride to the polls!

I am really more concerned about those who do not vote!

And do you really believe a Mexican person, or one who is an American of Mexican descent are not going to get raked over the coals?

If our lazy citizens would take the time to vote they would vastly outnumber the 'illegals' who apparently make the effort even though it could result in them losing their jobs and their families in this country. Maybe they could teach us citizens a thing or two about the importance of voting.

Creating a nationwide database of voters would NOT be easy from a technological standpoint. Think of how many people turn voting age each day. How many people die each day. How many people move each day. Every time one of these events took place, the database would have to be updated. And it would contain about 300 million people.... you think there wouldn't be errors in it? I think it's better for local authorities to manage this data to protect its integrity.

Because the US doesn't have a culture of passports. Most countries require you show your passport when registering and this isn't a far fetched request as most citizens have passports by the time they are five.

Yes, it is a joke.
