I think we need to follow through on promises made to host countries in the region with regards to refugees. Our actions have created the deluge. One of our responsibilities in concluding the war needs to be to contend with that. We have already embarked down the arduous road of death, displacement, and dishonor. There is no doubt that we are tasked with doing huge amounts of damage control, regardless of our future actions.

Yes, because our presence is causing more and more of them to die, and more and more of them to become refugees. I am not counting the millions who have suffered debilitating wounds from these bombs, or the thousands and thousands of orphaned children.
It will undoubtedly take a bundle of American money to help these folks, after we're gone. Then, the UN should do what the UN was intended to do, as well as the charitable agencies, come into Iraq and help them get resettled.
For a while, the Civil War will rage. We can't stop that and we are certainly not doing much to stop it now. It is a religious disruption and we can't change their beliefs or their grudges. Only they can do that.
It doesn't matter if this "Surge" is successful or not, because we are simply using weapons to force behavior. Unless we stay in Iraq indefinitely, as in Korea, the religious battle will go on. Saddam used force to contain it and another leader may spring up to take over where he left off. If George Bush is so set on this eternal war, let him go over there after he leaves office and handle all of this. It would give him a chance to be the dictator he seems to want to be.
It will be years before Iraq is a settled country again, if ever. But staying there is just making things worse. We have Afghanistan and bin Laden to worry about, and that is the seat of terrorism. There is no reason to stay in Iraq except for the corporate need and greed for oil.

Refugees? If we pull out of Iraq as soon as the democrats want us to, there won't be many refugees left. There are going to be thousands and thousands of people slaughtered by Al Quada and the Taliban. It's a pity. The liberals are willing to let so many innocent people die just so they can the presidency back.

Yes, Yes, Yes.
But we know how good the folks in the Bush administration are about planning. Specially when the planning is to help people.
It is appalling that there isn't more help for the refugees now.
"Sweden has provided shelter to more than 18,000 Iraqis since 2006. In contrast, the United States has given refuge to fewer than 800 Iraqis since 2003, according to State Department figures."
We should not leave without a lot of planning, but we know that Bush will not plan, and will not leave unless it is forced.
Conclusion: We need a democratic president, who will plan and then pull the troops out of Iraq.

Well if a Democrat is in the White House rest assured we won't have any plan at all and it will be a great surprise to them that people will want to leave Iraq.

Yes, the Dem's have a plan. The refugees will be sent to America and put on welfare, sent to re-education camps (Dem headquarters) and showed how to vote. When the rag heads hit us again they will blame Bush, the media will ask what we did wrong and Obama will claim he is a Muslim and make Hillery cover her face; that would be a good thing.

Yes, in good conscience, we should leave them in Iraq. Do think we should stay there for the next hundred years? Because they are still going to be bombing each other then too just like they are now but it's also killing Americans. Let them kill their own people and bring our troops home so no more American lives are lost. Protect us here on American soil.

Good Call and Yes. Showing the world a well-planned and graceful exit strategy would go a long way to improve the rest of the World's view of the U.S.

Nearly 2 million Iraqi's have already fled to Syria, Iran, and other nations. Brian, that is rediculous, we have taken hardly ANY Iraqi's in, considering the number of refugee's created by the toppling of Hussien.
