Some psychologists (like myself) have to see a therapist as part of their training. This makes them better psychologists. They do have the same emotions as everyone else believe it or not. They have lives outside of their profession with just as many ups and downs as the next person. Funny that isn't it!

Actually, I've seen some therapists who were pretty messed up. Sigmund Freud is considered the father of psychoanalysis, though he certainly had his fair share of issues. For instance, he fell out with A LOT of his disciples when they disagreed with him. Also, even though he and his wife had several children, there is evidence that suggests that they had a very awkward, restrained sex life together. One of Freud's proteges and later detractors, Carl Jung, cheated on his wife with his long-time mistress. Another of Freud's proteges and later detractors, Sandor Ferenczi, fell in love with both a mother AND her daughter! Anna Freud, the daughter of Sigmund Freud and a well-respected psychoanalyst in her own right, had issues with her mother and had an unhealthily close relationship with her father. In fact, it has been said that the reason why she never married was because her father didn't want to give her up to another man. All of the people I've listed are considered to be very influential in psychology, but as you have seen, they certainly had issues!

I think good psychologists are happier to help those less happy than them and that is half of what makes them good psychologists

I think like all of us they have problems in their lives, but perhaps they are able to cope better with relationships. However I would not think they are any happier because of their profession.

No, they are just as entitled to misery as every one else. They are just better able to tell others how to fix their problems, but still need help with their own. Hey, they're only human!

Can't see how they can be really, they have to find a reason behind everything and analyse everything. It must be hard for them to accept that sometimes things just happen.
