They believe that industry should be self-policing without government intervention. Unfortunately, without governmental rules and regulations, it ends up with the fox guarding the hen house.

a conservatively moral person, with a Bible trained conscience, will regard the Earth just as all humans should; Earth is our home.
what person in his right mind would wish to destroy the aesthetics, the soundness, the VALUE of his own home?
God said He created the Earth, not simply for nothing; He created it to last FOREVER, and with His limitless power, He can extend the life of this solar system indefinitely.
He put man on this planet to dominate it, to spread out and to cultivate it, and inhabit it with God - fearing humans.
He brought a previously advanced civilization of humans to it's demise by means of a global deluge because they were "RUINING THE EARTH in His eyes."
He says He is going to bring this civilization to an end, "bringing to RUIN THOSE WHO ARE RUINING the Earth."
Read the Scriptures in Genesis again, and yous will find that the Earth was being RUINED because, "all the Earth was FILLED with violence." It was also filled with immorality of all kinds..
That is the ONLY WAY MAN CAN RUIN THIS AWESOME CREATION.... by his immorality, violence, and Godlessness.
This planet was made so it lasts forever, and NOTHING man can do will change that.
Man DOES have the responsibility to care for it, and the way we are caring for it now is more akin to abuse.

This conservative believes in saving the environment and has been conserving, planting trees, and doing whatever I can to help out. Common sense tells me to do that. Not hype. :)
As far as making a profit goes, if you earn it, you should profit from it. I don't believe in socialism, communism or anything that comes close to. However, I'll be the first one to point out that allowing capitalism to become huge monopolies is equally dangerous. In order for the small business to survive, we must be able to compete.

I take issue with the way your question is framed. There is not one person I have ever known who is for "destroying the environment". There is a big difference between utilizing and destroying. There is a big difference between protecting and not allowing something to even be touched.
Man is part of nature. We do what we do because that is what nature intended us to do. Beavers build dams. Does that make them guilty of causing destruction to the environment? If that dam causes the deaths of tiny fish that require rapidly running water does that make the beaver evil?
The beaver does what beavers do. If the tiny fish becomes extinct as a result that is the way it goes. The whole concept of "species" or "extinction" is a man made concept. Nature fully intends for unsuccessful species to become extinct. Millions have come and gone long before the first man every existed.
Man is currently the top species on the planet. Man builds, too. He builds dams, bridges, cities, rocket ships, automobiles, air planes, sky resorts etc. Nature has made us that way. If other species cannot adapt to what man does the rule is it should go extinct. This isn't my rule it is nature's rule. This being the case, by what authority can some men decide what other men can do that may cause some species of owl or snake or fish to become extinct? So called environmentalists act as if man is not part of nature but some evil interloper. Such is not the case.
Nor does it make any sense that man was given such high intelligence and abilities just to act as some sort of zoo keeper for the other species. Species come and go. That is the natural way of things. To artificially keep some species around is not natural and is costing some other species that sould take its place.
It seems to me nature fully intends for man to utilize the resources here on earth until he can manage to travel to distant planets and colonize them as well. Nature loves life. It seems to realize the folly of keeping all of its eggs in this basket know as planet earth. Just like before, one good hit by a piece of cosmic garbage and most life may well become extinct.
We are to go forth and multiply. We will eventually be able to reach other planets. That is nature's plan for us. To spread mankind throughout the galaxy and then the universe thus insuring the success of life.

You mean like the Live Earth concert?
Al Gore flying around in private jets preaching the evils of global warming and started a company to make money off "carbon credits".
Bush as a more green home than Gore.
I hear all this talk from liberals about the enviroment but it seems to me it is the conservatives that are doing something about it.
GE, Duke Power, and some other heavy hitters are already sign on to do something.
Profits from being green are causing companies to do more green activies.
It is cheaper to build building with green in mind than the way it use to be.
Times have change.
So when are liberals going to step up to the plate and put their money with their mouth is when it comes to taking care of the poor like Conservative Christians?
Bible teaches us to be good stweards of what G-d gave us.

Most conservative don't advocate the destruction of the environment. Any policy decision regarding the environment though has to be weighed against the impact it will have on people. I know that a lot of liberals don't really care about those impacts but they really should be considered.

Stop sniffing the glue you have bought into the mantra that conservatives want to poison the air and water and destroy the environment. Last time I check we have to breathe the same air and drink the same water as everyone else you need to start thinking logically.
