If he's a good president, yes definitely. But I'm not going to vote for someone because of their race.

I'll ignore your bad grammar and answer what I think you are asking. Yes, America is ready for a black president, so long as she is Condoleeza Rice. I remember some blacks saying Bill Clinton was the first black president. Funny how many now say Obama isn't black enough. What must Obama do to prove his blackness, or following the example of Clinton, maybe the question is who does Obama have to do, and how many of them?

Hi Cris,
I'm in America, and I have to assume you are in Malasia. I'm taking your question as wondering if white Americans will elect a black man as president. I believe the answer is yes. With the USA still predominantly white of European heritage, you ask a good question.

I believe that Mr. Obama is highly electable. He is from the mid-western state of Illinois and is a very physically attractive individual. He is Harvard educated and extremely well spoken with nothing in his voice to suggest he comes from the "inner city."

America today is very confused and disalllusioned by her current rulers. We have been lied to and bullied, stollen from and cheated. Our present bunch of elected leaders are the ring leaders, the cause of this insult to Americans, this outrage many white Americans are starting to identify in their gut. Mr. Obama is a US Senator, but he is considered a political "outsider." He is very vocally against the US aggression in the middle east and I believe, would quickly end the war were he to be elected. Most American's want the damn war over with. We want the crooks in our midst to be gone and we want our honor as a nation returned to us. If we can get that, then I don't think Americans care if the new president had green skin with yellow spots and pink stripes.

Just my humble opinion.

You know after all the smart and politically correct answers let me be as honest as we can be. NO! The real powers behind the power are not ready and that need to be kept in mind.

I would love for a person of colour to be able to be given the same opportunity but this nation is not ready for it yet...like they are ready for an Native American president.

Sad but true!

This country is not only ready...it desperately needs a BIG change. Hillary & Obama will be that much needed change!
P.S. I find so interesting that some people say yes, but not Obama and then they go on mentioning others that are not in the race & have no interest in running.

They may be ready for one, but I dont think it will be Barack Obama, last night's debate shows that he was not as experienced as Hillary, The world is ready to elect a woman president, and later on down the line maybe Barack will be elected or run again.

i think that america simply needs a good president. i could care less if he is black, white, red or green. as long as he has my best interests at mind and keeps me safe- thats the main importance. well of course he should also give me some more tax breaks too

So you're saying that the fact that he's black is what will define how he'll do his job as president? At least that how it sounds. But the answer is no, there's still too many racists. I would like it if he won.

I think America is ready for a COMPETENT president right now, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation and all the other discriminating factors we as a society use.

Let's just get someone in there who can actually do the job!!!

Not one bit, and especially not Barack Obama. There's already plenty of criticisms about his last name sounding like "Osama" (funny, eh?), not to mention the rednecks of america. Personally, I think Barack Obama is great and he sounds very promising. I would vote for him. But America as a whole is not prepared. There's still a lot of prejudice in this country, and that goes for all sides.
