I think you got your perfect answer in the first two answers. No need to go any further.

What he should have done is say I don't want to say anything negative about Hillary. I want to focus on running a positive campaign, focusing on the issues that will make America a better America.

But see, these people are so scripted. They cannot think on their feet.

Is that really so different from the idiocy that we see here everyday, Hillary is a lesbian, Hillary has big feet, Hillary isn't pretty, Hillary doesn't turn me on, Hillary is scary.
Agree with her or don't based on her views, I have no problem with that, but criticizing her based on femininity or hairstyle or clothing choices is pretty pointless. Shes up there for a Presidential debate, not a beauty contest.
Apparently Edwards thought that would be the kindest thing to say.
Being a gentleman is no sin, a fact a few here have either never known or forgotten.

Because, being in the same party they are not going to go real negative unless they have to. He knows she has juice and doesn't want to piss her off. But, the coat thing was gutless. He should have mentioned something about document shredding or Whitewater.

He could not say nothing, him and her were the two people who were caught on an open microphone, wishing there were not so many other candidates, for them to have to run against, in their own party. Would not be surprised if them two did not team up later, on same ticket.

By responding with something negative about her jacket, he answered the question without attacking her premises.

A basic lack of integrity. He wanted to skewer her but that would require a certain amount of honesty that he just does not have.

It's an example of what the DNC has done for the last 20 years. They have taken the oppotunities for intelligent debate and turned them into personal attacks. This time at least it was on another member of the DNC and not on an individual who's actually trying to do something for our country.

Clearly it was a superficial insult because he lacked the courage to talk about any real issue they may disagree on. Makes you wonder about his intelligence, doesn't it? How he handles himself under pressure...

Oh please, this is just an example of the fact that Edwards is lacking balls, like the majority up there.

Didn't even have the courage to be honest.
