I have had training, and will continue to train. The problem is that I can't possibly get better without experience, and no one wants to hire someone with no experience.

How do you get experience?

Unfortunately it's a catch 22. You know how it goes... same as when you start an acting career, no one will take you without a resume but you have to get a job in order to put it on your resume... Anyway, you can in fact get better through acting. The more acting you do the more opportunities present themselves for you to play a character. The voice may not be as over the top or distinctive as it would be behind a mic in the booth, or it could be... it just depends. You could also practice on your own and keep going to workshops, but I'm sure you've done that.

Oh, another way to practice is to read books out loud. You can read them to record for the blind, you can read to children at the library (and that's a great way to volunteer and create new voices)... it's a great way to practice and find new characters.

Either way, keep it up. Hopefully they'll use a few less name actors in some upcoming projects :-)

Good luck!!!

You gotta put your training to practice--that means audition for roles in a play or musical. Stage acting may be the best way to build up your experience...
