However, they film the same parade three days in advance, then they roll that tape along with the live parade.

If there are any undesireable elements (rain, objectionable behavior by the audience, etc) that occur during the live broadcast, they simply flip over to the footage of the parade that was previously filmed, until conditions warrant switching back to the live version.

There are PORTIONS of the parade that are prerecorded, but the parade that you see coming down Main Street USA is live, if at all possible. That's the preference of Disney/ABC.

Christmas Day is the Busiest Day at Disney all year. So with the help of Filming it and a few enhancing, like countless different guy stated appropriate Disney Parade. Plus then they don't have action picture it on Christmas Day, they could action picture on a miles less Busy Day.
